About Skateboard Authority

Rex Anthony sitting on a chair Hey there, I am Rex Anthony. I have been skateboarding since 2005. The first skateboard I ever had was a Santa Cruz skateboard handed over to me by my brother who was heading off to college.

I can still remember the first time I tried to ride the skateboard. I fell flat on my face countless times. I got up, cleaned the dirt off my shirt, and got on the deck again.

I was particularly lucky to have friends that were also skateboarders. We would get together and head out to the skatepark during the weekends to practice the skills that we had heard about and watched on youtube. The feeling of riding a skateboard is great. When you get on a skateboard and all the care and worry in the world vanishes into thin air is an incredible feeling.

After a while, I got very comfortable with my skateboard, so I started experimenting and buying more boards. I have had more injuries than I care to count. At the end of the year, I had saved up some cash and had over 50 boards spread between regular and electric skateboards.

I started getting requests from sponsors and a lot of folks wanting to learn how to ride a skateboard and perform tricks. Due to a large number of people, I knew that I couldn't possibly attend to everyone and teach them the skills that they needed, so I created this website where I collaborate with other people and write about how to acquire the skills required to become a pro skateboarder.

Learning how to ride a skateboard was fun for me, but it wasn't easy. I made a lot of mistakes along the way and have had a lot of bruises (literally). Throughout this journey, the one constant has been the passion and dedication to keep moving forward.

For years, I have met many skateboarders and have learned from groups, I have listened to a lot of podcasts and have pieced together information from blogs, youtube channels, and masterminds. The content on this site is the product of all the knowledge both personal and professional that I've acquired along the way. I have taken what works and have presented it in a way that will enable both beginners and pros to level up their skateboarding skills.

The result is a site that I wish I had when I first started learning to ride a skateboard. I am constantly learning and sharing knowledge about what works in an easy-to-understand way.

I love skateboarding and seeing as readers of Skateboard Authority dramatically change their lives is what keeps me motivated to keep moving forward.

This could be anything from getting their first board, learning how to perform tricks, getting sponsorships, or getting the skills that they need to go pro and live the life of their dreams.
